Charles Hyde, an Old à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã University physics professor and Eminent Scholar, will receive a 2016 Outstanding Faculty Award next month from the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).

"I am thrilled to win this award," said Hyde, who is Old à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã's 29th SCHEV honoree and the second physicist in a row, following Gail Dodge last year. "I would especially like to thank my colleagues and students in the physics department who have made ODU such a great place to work for the past 20 years."

Hyde is among 13 faculty members from throughout the state who will be honored Feb. 16 at a luncheon at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. Each award consists of an engraved plaque and $5,000 underwritten by the à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Foundation, the philanthropic arm of à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Resources. à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã is the parent company of à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã Virginia Power.
