On April 11, 2025, Erin Arsenault discussed the results from her master鈥檚 portfolio research project at the 2nd Graduate Student Government Association Conference. The day-long event included representation from graduate programs across the main and healthcare campuses and included oral presentations, inter-active poster sessions, and networking opportunities. Faculty and guest speakers also attended as well as Dr. Shana Pribesh, Professor and Chair of the Department of STEM Education and Professional Studies and Interim Dean of the Graduate School. 

Erin Arsenault is a 2019 graduate of Old 啵啵直播秀 University with a B.A. in history.  She will receive her M.A. in history at the May 2025 commencement. Her presentation was entitled, 鈥淲ords Unspoken: Rape and the Intersection of Gender and Language in Holocaust Survivor Testimony.鈥  Dr. Annette Finley-Croswhite directed her portfolio project. Drs. Finley-Croswhite, Brett Bebber and John Weber made up her master鈥檚 degree program committee, and all three were present to support Erin at the conference event. 

The Department of History is thrilled to announce that Erin鈥檚 presentation won the 鈥Third Place Award for Best Oral Presentation." Her outstanding work was recognized among many excellent presentations, and we are proud to celebrate her achievement.  The conference was large and first and second place in the oral presentation category went to students representing the Batten College of Engineering and Technology and EVMS at the Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at ODU.  We are especially proud of Erin for commanding a strong presence for the College of Arts and Letters underscoring the importance of research in the humanities in what often feels like a STEM-dominated world.
